Catch and Shoot drill

BAsketball teAM DRiLLs

This z 4 my teamates
Some immportant drills dat u may do while ur regular practice:
  • Shooting Drill 1: "12 Sets"

Have players partner-up and use all of your baskets. Each player will shoot 12 sets of shots. Each set consists of a 3-pointer (yellow), a shot-fake with jump shot (green), a catch and shoot jump shot (blue), and a lay-up (pink). We start in one corner and rotate around each of the 12 spots (seen in black in the diagram). The partner rebounds and passes back to the shooter. We rotate shooters after each set of four, so the shooter becomes the rebounder and vice-versa.

  • Shooting Drill #1, Catch and Shoot.

Player #1 makes a good chest pass to player #2. #1 follows the pass and closes-out on #2, but does not try to block the shot or simply fly by the shooter. #2 takes the shot (no dribbling)and follows it for the rebound. Now player #2 passes back out to player #1 (who is at position A) and closes-out on #1, who is now the shooter. After both players have shot from position A, they move next to position B, and on around the circle and then back around again (E->D->C->B->A). If you are coaching younger players, have them move in closer so that correct shooting form is not compromised.

These r the 2 drills which i hav learnt today..........keep checking my blog for more drills nd basketball techniques!!!!!!

Basketball Basics

Basketball Basics
So, if u r trying to some basketball.....i mean gud basketball then i can teach u.........

Here are some basic rules and playing conditions for the standard game of basketball.
  • Basketball is a fast, non-contact sport, usually played indoors on a court
  • There are five players from each team on the court at any one time, with up to five substitutes sitting on the side line.
  • The game begins with the ball being thrown up by the referee. Two players, standing in the center circle, jump for it and try to tap it to one of their team mates.[ Tip off ]
  • Players pass the ball to one another, or run with the ball while bouncing it on the ground.
  • The aim of the game is to throw the ball through the hoop.
  • Two points are awarded for each successful throw, except for throws from outside the three point line (3 points), or for penalty free throws (one point).
  • No holding, tripping, hitting or pushing is allowed. Referees control the game. If a player commits more than five fouls, they are sent off the court for the remainder of the game.
  • The ball is round with a circumference of 75-78 cm, and weighs 600-650 grams.
